California is the latest state to select the individual debtor name Alternative A pertaining to the 2010 Amendments to UCC Article 9, with changes going into effect January 1, 2015. Previously, California did not adopt the Alternative A or Alternative B options selected by 47 other states.
According to the Uniform Law Commission, 48 states and the District of Columbia have now enacted the 2010 Amendments to the Uniform Commercial Code Article 9. The majority of states have selected the individual debtor name Alternative A, while only seven states (Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Wyoming) chose Alternative B. All took effect on July 1, 2013.
